EXCITING NEW COMMISSION

A major new 20-minute piece has just been completed by BJ.
Commissioned by Birmingham Jazz with funds from the Arts Council of England.
It is entitled

'THE DRUM MACHINE PLAYS
THE BATTLEMARCH OF CONSUMERISM'

It's been written for, wait for it, SIX (yes, six) drumkits!!

"It's war," says Billy, "let's get the musicians back where they've been banished -
the disco, nightclub and rave scene.
Six drummers doing the work of one sampler!
Kickin' shit like no machine can. Sweating too! Breathing hard. Pumping.
We got twenty-four on the floor here."

The World Premiere will be in Birmingham in May 2000.
